Updated: Dec 1, 2019

This article was taken from WAVY.com.

Thousands in Hampton Roads struggle to stay warm each winter and sadly, the numbers continue to rise. For 27 years, WAVY-TV 10 remains the only local station in the region providing a solution to the problem by collecting NEW or gently used coats for people all ages and sizes. Once again, local businesses, non-profits, churches, Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast, and Entercom Radio group team up to make the mission possible. November 15 to February 9.

You can donate a new or gently used coat at any Albano Cleaners, Hampton Roads Honda, First Advantage Federal Credit Union, Johns Brothers Security, Dillard’s, Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group, Commonwealth Rapid Dry and at WAVY-TV 10, WVBT-TV FOX43 studios in Portsmouth.

Coats for Families is fueled by the warm hearts of 10 On Your Side’s long-time partner Albano Cleaners. Albano Cleaners’ main headquarters in Norfolk ensures EVERY gently used coat is cleaned from Southside to the Peninsula. After cleaning, the coats are delivered to 10 On Your Side distribution partners by Harrison’s Moving & Storage and the Hiram Lodge.

Everyone in need has MORE opportunity to receive a coat this winter, as 10 On Your Side’s distribution partners have grown, yet again! New this season, 10 On Your Side is partnering with Oak Grove Baptist Church and For Kids in Suffolk, and the Portsmouth YMCA to distribute coats. Returning distribution locations include; Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center and Chestnut Memorial Church in Newport News, Judeo Christian Outreach Center and Samaritan House in Virginia Beach, HER Shelter in Portsmouth and Chesapeake, The Salvation Army in Norfolk and CHIP of South Hampton Roads in South Norfolk.
