Support Our Services

Help fund the front line services that help our families.

Listen to ForKids staff explain why these services matter.

(Although they might prefer it, they don't usually wear costumes to work -

these videos were filmed for the 2020 Art Auction, Abracadabra!)

$25,000

$25,000: Move three families to housing by providing short-term rent assistance, housing placement and case management to stabilize the family once they are housed. More families need us now than ever before!

Dani Williams, Family Case Manager

$15,000

Operate Haven House emergency shelter for two weeks. Haven House is Hampton Roads’ most critical resource for homeless families. Give 38 people a safe, warm place to sleep and a fresh start. This is your last chance to support Haven House… next year we’ll move into our new shelter in South Norfolk!

Sara Olson, Program Manager

$10,000

Provide complete wrap-around services for ten homeless children for an entire month. This is the WHOLE ForKids service package for a child. We provide housing, after school programs, mental health services, case management, recreation and arts programming because they are what break the cycle of homelessness. With 90% of our kids advancing to the next grade, we know this works!

Shereka Steele, Senior Education Manager

$5,000

Give Beyond the Bell tutoring to 2 children for the whole school year including supplies. With schools closed and group tutoring not an option, our team has mobilized to deliver school packets, help families access free school meals, deliver necessary groceries and provide tutoring by phone so our kids can keep up with their studies.

Mary Ann Poole, Education Advocate

$2,500

Fund a week of finance, grants management and data collection. Seriously??? NOBODY WANTS TO PAY FOR THIS. But our work doesn’t happen without it. We manage and report on over 125 government and foundation grants to fund a complex array of services for our families. Help us maintain our 4-Star Charity Navigator and Platinum GuideStar ratings and our 27-year record of pristine OMB133 audits. With only 16.5% of our budget dedicated to overhead, ForKids is a great investment!

Eva Zaret, Data Coordinator

$1,500

Run the Regional Housing Crisis Hotline for a day and assist as many as 400 families calling for help in crisis. A calm, well trained voice at the end of a phone line is the first step to accessing available resources in 14 Hampton Roads cities and counties during a crisis.

Jennifer Eren, Intake Specialist

$1,000

Feed 12 families for one month at Haven House Emergency Shelter. This is a deal to feed 35 people for a month as we creatively use food donations and our families pitch in to cook.

Natalie Jackson, Haven House Shelter Coordinator

$500

Provide a month of transportation for 15 families, ensuring that our adults make it to job interviews and that our kids get to tutoring, summer camps, field trips and art enrichment opportunities. Public transportation has limited reach and schedules. Our families wouldn’t be able to access opportunities without our help.

Ari, Ayala Services Assistant

$250

Send a child to summer camp for one week. As things (hopefully) get back to normal, you can give a ForKids kid the experience of a lifetime and an opportunity to just be a kid. We will get creative to provide other summer experiences if traditional camps aren’t available this year.

Angela Graciani, Director of Education

$100

Give two nights of shelter for a child. This is the most basic need our families and children have. When you fund our shelter, you give these kids a chance to know what it feels like to be in a safe home every night. You give them security, comfort and a new start.
